Forced to flee to save his life, he found refuge with Eisen, who took him under his wing as a devoted apprentice.

Personality
Stark stands out for his natural charisma and deep kindness, earning the sincere affection of numerous communities he passes through. Highly appreciated by former villagers, he is also an emblematic figure for children, often guiding them as an inspiring mentor. His genuine compassion drives him to heroic acts, never hesitating to risk his life to ensure their safety. Frieren, confident in his abilities and dedication, fully entrusts his protection by recruiting him as head of the vanguard. His companion Sein describes Stark as a young man with a huge heart who inspires trust and respect.
Despite years of intensive training under Eisen’s strict guidance, Stark sometimes shows a vulnerable side: he can appear frightened in front of fearsome monsters and flee fierce fights, a behavior he deeply detests in himself. His hands always shake just before battles, a trait attributed to his master’s influence. Nevertheless, when danger is imminent, he finds the inner strength needed to face peril, risking everything without hesitation. His elder brother, Stoltz, had noticed during their youth his remarkable focus in training, a quality that has never left him.
Compared to Fern, who embodies maturity, Stark sometimes seems immature and escapes rigor, indulging in sometimes awkward remarks and enjoying staying up late sipping fruit juice, especially when Fern is not watching. He generally apologizes modestly when Fern reproves him, illustrating his tender and human side.
Appearance
Stark sports wild red hair with clearly marked black roots and flaming orange eyes. His usual outfit consists of a sleeveless black shirt with a collar fastened by white ties, paired with loose black pants, sturdy black boots, a white belt around his waist, and bandages wrapped around his forearms. In cold weather, he completes his outfit with a black turtleneck sweater. For outdoor travel, he wears a distinctive long red coat with cream-colored lapels and cuffs and black mittens to protect his hands. His faithful weapon, a large double-pointed axe in gray and silver tones, is securely strapped to his back by a sling. Additionally, he wears a silver bracelet, a precious gift from Fern at age eighteen, symbolizing their friendship bond.

His many adventures alongside Frieren and Fern have refined his combat instinct and increased his physical resistance, making him capable of withstanding deadly attacks that would devastate most other seasoned warriors. Eisen’s brutal technique taught him that his true strength lies in his incredible resilience and ability to quickly get back up after each fall. Driven by the conviction that as long as he rises, he has not lost, Stark displays unshakable determination. This mental strength combined with his physical talents makes him a formidable opponent, often the front line against enemies, thus protecting the group's mages.
