Serie's Personality: Wisdom, Pragmatism, and Sharp Intuition
Like her elf peers, Serie is reserved and can seem emotionally distant. Nevertheless, she shows remarkable accuracy in her judgment, as well as keen intuition to perceive the hidden potential of those around her.
Pragmatic and clear-sighted, she quickly deciphers dangers while remaining attentive to the desires and needs of her apprentices. As a mentor, she has trained many students over the centuries, adopting sometimes an ambivalent stance, especially towards humans with limited lifespans.
Although the title of apprentice was reserved for Flamme by a mere whim, Serie retains a precise memory of her students' favorite spells and personality traits. For example, she organizes the third stage of the difficult mage exam in a field of magical flowers created thanks to Flamme’s favorite spell, which she nevertheless judges ineffective.
Like many elves, she struggles to express her feelings but discreetly admits her disappointment that few of her disciples have left a lasting mark. Moreover, she admires those who nurture great magical ambitions, favoring a vision of magic as a powerful tool for combat and destruction, which earned her the label of warmonger given by Flamme.
While enjoying battles against formidable opponents, Serie is fascinated by mages mastering many spells and different types of magic.
Physical Appearance: Elven Elegance and Timeless Distinction
Serie sports golden hair and eyes, common characteristics of ancient elves. Older than Frieren, she nevertheless retains a youthful appearance marked by her large pointed ears.
Her hairstyle is distinguished by four strands tied at the base while the rest of her hair is loose, with a fringe tied at the bottom framing her face. She wears a loose white top adorned with a green brooch and matching shorts, complemented by a long red cape richly decorated with golden clasps and hanging green jewels, lined with white fur at the collar.
Often barefoot, she also wears two bracelets or bandages on her ankles. In the past, she was depicted in a light toga dress, without decorations on the arms or hair, but with ankle bracelets and a necklace with several pendants.
During her fight against Macht, Serie opts for a more combat-appropriate outfit, including ribbon-adorned shoes and a loose jacket, while keeping her distinctive cape.
Magical Abilities: Unmatched Knowledge and Exceptional Mana Control
Considered the mage closest to the Omnipotent and Omniscient Goddess, Serie impresses with her expertise and unique powers:
- Living grimoire: Master of almost all known spells, including ancient magics forgotten from the mythical era, she possesses nearly every grimoire ever written, hence her nickname.
- Immense mana production: Her mana rivals that of Frieren, although she prefers to voluntarily limit its emission. Her mana reserve is probably the largest ever observed in a mage.
- Mana concealment: Expert in masking her mana, she remains invisible to detectors, even the best ones. Only Fern, a human mage, detected a slight instability in her. She can also completely cancel her mana production to go unnoticed and infiltrated the heavily guarded Golden City of Weise without being spotted, an exploit even Frieren could not have accomplished.
- Superhuman instinct: Her intuition is constantly accurate, allowing her to judge candidates during the mage exam purely by instinct. She can even perceive, to some extent, their thoughts and emotions.
Notable Spells:
- Barrier magic: She erected a magical barrier of exceptional strength, capable of completely isolating an area, impenetrable even by dust or water. This barrier is nearly indestructible and resisted several days before Frieren managed to break through it.
- Spell transfer spell (Fürwehrer): This unique spell allows her to transmit a spell to another mage via a grimoire containing her knowledge. The learner instantly acquires the magic, even if it would normally be inaccessible to them. This transfer temporarily makes Serie forget the spell.
- Curse reversal spell (Mistilziela): Ancient magic that returns any curse to its caster. Learning it takes a century, and its activation requires a massive amount of mana.
- Spatial magic: During a battle, she magically distorted an impact point to dodge a sword attack, demonstrating advanced mastery of spatial manipulation.
- Defensive magic: Use of protective hexagonal barriers to defend precise areas and powerfully counter enemy attacks.
