Still a teenager, Momo moved in with her grandmother Seiko Ayase, a renowned medium. She befriended Jiji and developed feelings for him. In public, she had to follow a daily ritual set by her grandmother, meant to bring good luck but attracting mockery and harassment, even from Jiji. This difficult period deeply marked her, fueling lasting resentment toward Seiko. Over time, however, she understood that the humiliations mostly targeted her grandmother. This realization soothed her anger and strengthened her filial love. Having grown up in this supernatural environment, Momo eventually firmly believed in spirits and recognized her grandmother's gift.
