Summary of My Hero Academia (MHA):

My Hero Academia is a popular Japanese superhero anime series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. The story follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy born without superpowers (called Quirks) in a world where they are common. Despite his lack of abilities, Midoriya dreams of becoming a hero. He catches the attention of All Might, Japan's greatest hero, who sees potential in him and shares his powerful alter with Midoriya. He later helps enroll him in UA High School, a prestigious institution for aspiring heroes.

Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since July 2014, the series has been compiled into 30 tankōbon volumes as of April 2021. It has also inspired several spin-off anime, including My Hero Academia Smash!!!, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, and My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions, along with a highly successful animated TV series produced by Bones. The series first aired in 2016, with subsequent seasons following until the latest season, which premiered in March 2021. Additionally, three animated films, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, and My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission, have been released. A live-action film is also in development by Legendary Entertainment.

The anime has received critical acclaim and is regarded as one of the best anime of the 2010s, winning several awards, including the 2019 Harvey Award for Best Anime. As of April 2021, My Hero Academia has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.

The series is set in a world where most of the population possesses Quirks—superpowers that develop in children before the age of four. Approximately 80% of the world’s population has a Quirk, and no two Quirks are exactly the same unless the individuals are closely related. Among those with Quirks, some rise to the status of Pro Heroes, working with authorities to rescue people and apprehend criminals, known as villains. Pro Heroes achieve fame and recognition for their accomplishments.

The story centers on Izuku Midoriya, a boy who dreams of becoming a hero despite being bullied by his childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugo, for not having a Quirk. Both idolize the legendary hero All Might, whom Izuku knows holds a serious injury hidden from the public. All Might eventually passes his powerful alter, One For All, to Izuku, recognizing his unwavering determination. As Izuku begins his journey at UA High School, he faces the growing threat of Tomura Shigaraki and the villainous All For One, who aims to destroy society and the hero system.
